Hampshire Microlight Flying Club is the operator of Colemore Common airfield. We are responsible flyers, and all Club members are required to operate in accordance with aviation law with the key consideration of safety of airfield users, visitors, and property on the airfield in a manner which minimises impact on our neighbours. To support this policy, we have detailed airfield information providing guidance for legal, safe flight in the vicinity of the airfield, which avoids local habitation wherever possible. All members are made aware of this guidance on joining our Club, and with regular review and reinforcement communications. Visiting pilots are asked to also familiarise themselves with this approach, through the details we publish on our website, airfield procedures published in national flight guides, and in the brief they receive verbally when telephoning in advance of visiting us. We believe that effective communication is the best way to ensure that we can reach a mutual understanding of how our airfield operates within the local community. To support this, the Club undertakes to provide a point of contact for people that have comments or suggestions related to our use of the airfield. If issues are reported which are directly relevant to our Club and its use of Colemore Common, we shall review these with the objective of preventing reoccurrence. It is, however, important to be aware that the Club cannot influence all flying which takes place in the vicinity of Colemore Common. The airfield is located in an area of uncontrolled airspace with several small and larger airfields within easy reach, including military and private airfields from which training activity takes place. The nature of the restricted airspace around us (Southampton to the west, Farnborough and Odiham to the north, and Gatwick to the east) also means that we are situated within a natural area for unrestricted aviation activity, encompassing both aircraft from Hampshire and West Sussex airfields, and those transiting from other areas.
